About this Site
Destiny Is Calling (formerly Destinycalls.net) is a fan site dedicated to Yuu Watase, a Japanese manga artist and writer, and has been on the internet since 2007. On this site you can view vast information on the various series she has created during her career.
So why create at site based on Yuu watase's manga series you ask? Probably the same reason as to why you are visiting a site based on Yuu Watase! Practically obsessed with her series, I noticed in recent times that most of the Watase fan sites on the internet, were no longer being updated or simply disappearing all together. My original intention was to just make a site with information on merchandise, and to focus on the Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden series, but as time went by, the site has mutated to what it is today.
My journey with Yuu Watase began with the original Fushigi Yuugi series, and is an odd one to say the least. Back in 2002, friends and I were trying out various anime series at our local video store, and I decided to pick up Fushigi Yuugi Eikouden ova, I had no idea what it was, just that I was hypnotized by the cover when I saw it on the rack. I picked up the box, read the description, and since I'm a sucker for anything with a mythological story behind it, I was totally hooked! I bought the DVD, took it home, and to say the least, I was totally confused as to what was going on (Eikouden is not something you should start the series with). Despite this, I still thought the animation was pretty, so after the initial watching I put the DVD away, and that was that. It wasn't until a year later that I discovered the joys that is Watase. I found out about her series Ayashi no Ceres, and was totally hooked. Then I started to read her other series, except for fushigi yuugi, but this time I had an idea of what the manga was about, but just kept putting the series off for another time. Then Genbu Kaiden came out. And as I got into the second book, I finally said, the heck with it, and began my journey into the juggernaut that is Fushigi Yuugi. As I read the series, and learned more in depth information about it, I learned that years prior that enchanting DVD I had bought, was indeed Fushigi Yuugi.
